You choose your course of action, not the consequences.

I think we all wish we could always choose the results of our decisions. Like, “If I get married, I will live happily ever after!”  or “I want to eat nothing peanut butter M&Ms for the rest of my life, I will have all the health and energy I need to maintain my marathon of a life!” or “If I buy a dishwasher, the dishes will wash themselves!”  Right???  Unfortunately, this is not how life works.  I compare this to adoption experiences in the following article.
